AUSTIN ARCHER is enjoying his fourth appearance in SATURDAY'S VOYEUR, and his eighth show on the SLAC stage. Last year you may have seen him as "Nephi Jensen" in the show. Recent credits include "Slim" in Good Company Theatre's production of COWBOY MOUTH, "Lee Harvey Oswald" in DarkHorse Company Theatre's ASSASSINS, "Dr. Fine/Madden" in the Ziegfeld Theatre's NEXT TO NORMAL, and "James Monroe" in BLOODY BLOODY ANDREW JACKSON here at SLAC. JENESSA BOWEN is currently a senior at Weber State University pursuing a Bachelor's of Science in Musical Theatre. You may have recently seen Jenessa play the role of Natalie in NEXT TO NORMAL at the Ziegfeld Theater in Ogden, or Annabel Glick in LUCKY STIFF at WSU last fall. Last summer she visited NYC to perform in her first off-broadway show, SHELTER for NYMF. Jenessa also attended KCACTF in Los Angeles this February as an Irene Ryan and competed in the Semi-finals. Some more of her favorite roles include, Jolene in DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS, Erin in RING OF FIRE at the Egyptian Theatre for Dark Horse Company Theatre, Adelaide in GUYS AND DOLLS, Mary Lennox in THE SECRET GARDEN, Nehebka in AIDA, and Anybodys in WEST SIDE STORY.
TREVOR DEAN is very excited to join the VOYEUR Cast again! He's currently attending Weber State University where he is studying Musical Theatre. Some of his favorite roles include Moroni "Bud" Rasmussen in SATURDAY'S VOYEUR-2012, Javert in LES MISERABLES, Lord Evelyn Oakley in ANYTHING GOES, McQueen in URINETOWN, Lord Montague in ROMEO AND JULIET, Marcellus Washburn in MUSIC MAN, Bob Wallace in WHITE CHRISTMAS, and most recently Ralph Waldo Emerson in CHARM. He's appeared in several venues across the Rocky Mountain region, including Ellen Eccles Theater, The Grand Theater, Hale Centre Theatre, The Ziegfeld Theater, The Rose Wagner, Lagoon, and various locations around the U.S. Trevor is so thankful to his family and friends for their love and encouragement.
RANDALL EAMES* graduated Magna Cum Laude from Weber State University with a degree in Theatre Arts. He is happy to be returning to Salt Lake's biggest summer party after appearing in SATURDAY'S VOYEUR 2011 and SLAC's past two children's shows: HOW I BECAME A PIRATE and CLICK CLACK MOO: COWS THAT TYPE. Some of his favorite roles include: John Hinckley in Stephen Sondheim's ASSASSINS, one of the guys in THE COMPLETE WORKS OF WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE ABRIDGED, Flute in A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM, Roy Johnson in THE LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA, part of the company of UNDER CONSTRUCTION and Willard in FOOTLOOSE. LEAH HASSETT is thrilled to be in her first show with Salt Lake Acting Company! Originally from Sacramento CA, she is currently working towards her BFA in musical theatre at the University of Utah, where she recently played Thea in SPRING Awaking. Leah has performed with Hale Center Theatre in ZORRO THE MUSICAL and 9 TO 5 THE MUSICAL. Some other favorite roles: Lola in DAMN YANKEES, Darlene in THE DIVINERS, and Demeter in CATS. Many thanks to her pug Demetrius for always supporting her. Hope you enjoy the show!
JUSTIN IVIE* is a proud member of Actors' Equity who is thrilled to return to the SATURDAY'S VOYEUR family for 2013. This is Justin's fifth VOYEUR. He has also appeared at SLAC as Jones in TOO MUCH MEMORY, and he recently directed SLAC's reading of GRANT & TWAIN. His many acting credits include appearances with Pioneer Theatre Company, Utah Musical Theatre, Egyptian Theatre Company, Old Lyric Repertory Theatre and many other others - both locally and in Chicago. As a director, Justin has staged three seasons of THE SENIOR THEATRE PROJECT - which tours short plays (written by, for, and about seniors!) to community senior centers and residence facilities. He has also directed Arthur Miller's THE PRICE for The OtherSide Players and JACOB MARLEY'S CHRISTMAS CAROL for OurSpace Theatre Company. A Weber Stat alumnus, Justin earned his MFA in Acting at Northern Illinois University. He has taught theatre and communications at LDS Business College, NIU, Triton College, and Weber State. Justin also designs scenery, props and theatrical masks, writes an occasional play, and sometimes even plays his banjo (when he's pretty sure no one is listening).
JACOB JOHNSON* is pleased to return to SLAC for his eighth production of SATURDAY'S VOYEUR. He was the producer/emcee of the CASTPARTYSLC cabaret series at SLAC. He has performed with many theatres throughout the Wasatch Front, including Pioneer Theatre Company, Egyptian Theatre Company, Hale Center Theatre, The Grand Theatre, Off-Broadway Theatre, Rodgers Memorial Theatre, and many others throughout Utah and California. Favorite credits include: THE SECRET GARDEN (Dickon), FORUM (Hysterium), HOW TO SUCCEED...(Bud Frump), SOUTH PACIFIC (Lt. Buzz Adams), THE FANTASTICKS (Matt), CHARLEY'S AUNT (Jack), DAMN YANKEES (Rocky), and NO TIME FOR SERGEANTS (Psychiatrist). He holds a B.A. in Theatre from the University of Utah and is a proud member of Actor's Equity since 2005.
EB MADSON* is super excited to be returning home to Utah to perform in SATURDAY'S VOYEUR 2013. Eb received his BFA degree from the University of Utah Actor Training Program and he recently received his Master's degree from Ohio University. Eb currently lives in New York where he continues to work as an actor. Eb was also the recipient of the 2012 James Whitmore Award. CONNOR NORTON is thrilled to be a part of SLAC's SATURDAY'S VOYEUR. She is currently pursuing a BFA Musical Theatre Performance at the University of Utah and is a Reno, NV native. Previous credits include BLOODY BLOODY ANDREW JACKSON (SLAC), THE WILD PARTY (Studio 115), AIDA (Interlochen), and Lagoon's 2012 SUMMER BROADWAY REVUE. She would like to thank her family for their continued love and support.
EMILIE STARR is so excited to be a part of this blasphemous abomination once again. During the months she is not in VOYEUR, Emilie has been working as a starving actress all over Utah. Some of her favorite roles this year include Diana in NEXT TO NORMAL at the Ziegfeld Theatre in Ogden and Cavale in COWBOY MOUTH at Good Company in Ogden as well. She has also been seen on stage at the Desert Star Theatre in Murray and Touring Utah's Schools with the Intermountain LIVE WELL show (an assembly teaching kids how to eat healthy and stay active). Emilie would like to thank her friends Eric, Tracy, and Vasko for all their support and love. And she especially wants to thank her Mother and Sister for their tolerance and forgiveness for the mockery that is about to take place. Enjoy the show.
KALYN WEST* is delighted to appear in her second season of SATURDAY'S VOYEUR, having had a blast as MoHanna Lingo last summer. She most recently appeared on the SLAC stage as Hen in CLICK CLACK MOO, which was a complete joy. She is also proud to announce that she will be graduating this spring from Weber State University with dual bachelors degrees in Musical Theater and Anthropology and can't wait! ALLEN NEVINS (Playwright, Lyricist) has been writing for SATURDAY'S VOYEUR the last 23 years. He came to the Salt Lake Acting Company in 1989 as the Literary Manager and in 1990 he formed a writing and business partnership with Nancy Borgenicht. In 1993, their partnership, Saturday's Voyeur, Inc., became the management company and the Executive Producers of the Salt Lake Acting Company, for which they received the UAF Mayors Award for the Performing Arts and also the Governors Award for the Arts. As Executive Producers they expanded and re-built the Upstairs Theatre, designed and built the Chapel Theatre as an alternative performing space, unionized SLAC's acting pool and re-instituted SATURDAY'S VOYEUR as the annual summer fundraiser for the Salt Lake Acting Company. After 35 years Saturday's Voyeur remains an outlet for discourse, dissent, irreverent humor, cheap shots at elected officials; and of course, political in-correctness in all its forms.
NANCY BORGENICHT (Playwright) has been part of The Salt Lake Acting Company since 1974. She served as Co-Executive Producer with Allen Nevins from 1993-2005 and as Interim Executive Producer for the 2009-2010 Season. She received the Mayor's Award for the Arts in 1999 and accepted, for SLAC, the Governor's Award for the Arts in 2001. Her directing credits for SLAC include ANGELSIN AMERICA, WHITE MAN DANCING, OLEANNA, WOMEN AND WALLACE, CABBIES, COWBOYS ANDTHE TREE OF THE WEEPING VIRGIN, and SATURDAY'S VOYEUR from 1993 to 2003. She conceived and created SATURDAY'S VOYEUR in 1978.
CYNTHIA FLEMING (Director, Choreographer, Executive Producer) has been in the world of dance and theatre professionally for over 35 years, during which time she performed in the Broadway, National, and International companies of A CHORUS LINE. In 1978, as a U of U Theatre student, her performing relationship with SLAC began. Since 1995 she has worn many hats at SLAC, including Choreographer, Director, Box Office Manager, and Director of Audience Services. She conceived and created the position of Director of Communications and Audience Development and assembled a communications team which generated renewed energy and excitement before taking on her current title of Executive Producer. Cynthia remains a working artist in the theatre and has choreographed SATURDAY'S VOYEUR for 16 years and has directed for five years. She has choreographed many SLAC productions including THE PERSIAN QUARTER, GO, DOG. GO! BAT BOY THE MUSICAL, AND WATER LILIES from
CABBIES, COWBOYS, AND THE TREE OF THE WEEPING VIRGIN. Cynthia is proud to serve Salt Lake Acting Company and its mission to develop and produce vital
new work.
KEVIN MATHIE (Composer/Arranger, Musical Director, Keyboards) is currently the resident Musical Director at the Grand Theatre. His recent directing and conducting credits include the U.S. Premier of Monty Python's new show NOT THE MESSIAH, INTO THE WOODS, LA CAGE AUX FOLLES, XANADU, WIZARD OF OZ, URINETOWN, THE MARVELOUS WONDERETTES, OLIVER, SCHOOLHOUSE ROCK LIVE!, MUSICAL OF MUSICALS THE MUSICAL, CABARET, and MY FAIR LADY, only to name a few. This is also his ninth SATURDAY'S VOYEUR. As a composer for theatre, Kevin has produced complete original vocal scores for SHEAR LUCK (The Grand Theatre), RUMPELSTILTSKIN (Utah Musical Theatre, et al.), JACK AND THE BEANSTALK (Utah Musical Theatre, et al.), and Intermountain Heath Care's LIVE WELL that tours schools throughout Utah. He has also written incidental scores for Salt Lake Acting Company's TWO- HEADED and VOICES IN THE DARK, The Grand Theatre's MISS EVERS' BOYS, and OUR TOWN, and Weber State University's DANSE MACABRE. Kevin also writes for film/tv, including arranging and musically directing a special comedy song for the Showtime special Larry Wilmore's "Race, Religion, and Sex in Utah." Kevin is a member of the Dramatists Guild.
KEVEN MYHRE (Executive Producer, Set Designer) was chosen to receive the Mayor's Artist Award in the Performing Arts for 2009. Keven was awarded the 2008 City Weekly Award for directing THE CLEAN HOUSE and MOONLIGHT AND MAGNOLIAS at Salt Lake Acting Company. His other directing credits at SLAC are BLOODY, BLOODY ANDREW JACKSON, RED, ANGELS IN AMERICA: PARTS 1 & 2, THE OVERWHELMING, RABBIT HOLE, I AM MY OWN WIFE, BAD DATES, KIMERBLY AKIMBO, GOING TO ST. IVES, WATER LILIES, THE MEMORY OF WATER, TWO-HEADED, THE BEAUTY QUEEN OF LEENANE, GROSS INDECENCY: THE THREE TRIALS OF OSCAR WILDE, C'EST MOI in MERE MORTALS, and THREE DAYS OF RAIN. Keven has designed all of SLAC's sets and many of the costumes for the last seventeen years. He also designed sixteen sets for The Grand Theatre, including ALWAYS... PATSY CLINE, JOHNNY GUITAR, MY FAIR
LADY, SONG OF SINGAPORE, MORNING'S AT SEVEN, and GODSPELL. ACCORDING TO COYOTE, WEST SIDE STORY, CROW AND WEASEL, and SOUTH PACIFIC were designed for Sundance Theatre. His designs have also been seen at Pioneer Memorial Theatre, Utah Musical Theatre, Egyptian Theatre, Kingsbury Hall and the Babcock Theatre. His work for the Utah Arts Festival includes site design for the 20th Anniversary. He received a BFA from the University of Utah and a MFA in Theatre from the University of Michigan.
JAMES M. CRAIG (Lighting Designer) has designed the lighting for 40+ shows at SLAC since 1997, most recently for THE EXIT INTERVIEW, MANNING UP, BLOODY BLOODY ANDREW JACKSON, LOVE, LOSS, AND WHAT I WORE, SATURDAY'S VOYEUR 2012, and COURSE 86B IN THE CATALOGUE. James has also designed lights for Plan-B Theatre, Utah Contemporary Theatre, Utah Musical Theatre, The Egyptian Theatre Company, Peery's Egyptian Theatre, Odyssey Dance Theatre, The Grand Theatre, Weber State University, The Emily Company, Georgia Shakespeare Festival, Virginia Stage Company, The Generic Theatre, Little Theatre of the Rockies, U of U Youth Theatre, U of U Lyric Opera Ensemble, and Theatre Inc. Currently James is the Technical Director for the Park City Performing Arts Foundation. James holds a B.S. in Theatre from Weber State University, and is a member of United Scenic Artists Local 829. JOSH MARTIN (Sound Designer) is delighted to be working on another SLAC production this year. Selected sound designs include SATURDAY'S VOYEUR 2010, 2011, 2012, THE EXIT INTERVIEW, CLICK CLACK MOO,GOD OF CARNAGE, (A MAN ENTERS), HOW I BECAME A PIRATE and RED. In In addition he is the Master Electrician here at the Salt Lake Acting Company.
BRENDA VAN DER WIEL (Costume Designer) As always, Brenda is happy to be working for SLAC. Brenda is part of the design faculty for the University of Utah Theatre Department. She designs regularly for that department as well as for Pioneer Theatre and for SLAC. Recent works include RENT, CHRISTMAS STORY,NOISES OFF, THE FOREIGNER and YOU CAN'T TAKE IT WITH YOU for Pioneer Theatre Company; MUCHADO ABOUT NOTHING, THE MERRY WIVES OF WINDSOR, DEATH OF A SALESMAN, THE COUNTOF MONTE CRISTO and COMEDY OF ERRORS for Alabama Shakespeare Festival; and A MAN ENTERS, HOW I BECAME A PIRATE, IF YOU GIVE A MOUSE A COOKIE, CHARM,MASTER CLASS, SIX YEARS, THE CLEAN HOUSE, ROUNDING THIRD and END DAYS for SLAC. She also designed several of the recent SATURDAY'S VOYEUR productions, and all but one of the University of Utah's Classical Greek Festival productions for the last eighteen years. Before moving to Utah, Brenda also worked at the Seattle Opera, the Santa Fe Opera, and the Utah Shakespearean Festival.
JANICE JENSON* (Production Stage Manager) is excited to be returning to Salt Lake Acting Company after Stage Managing SATURDAY'S VOYEUR 2011 & 2012, THE EXIT INTERVIEW, HOW TO MAKE A ROPE SWING, BLOODY BLOODY ANDREW JACKSON, COURSE 86B IN THE CATAOLGUE, DOTTIE: THE SISTER LIVES ON, GOD OF CARNAGE, & CIRCLE MIRROR TRANSFORMATION. ASM credits include THE LEGEND OF TIMPANOGOS, (Utah Regional Ballet), CINDERELLA, MY FAIR LADY, 42ND STREET (Tuacahn), & MESA VERDE (Plan-B). Stage management credits include: TICK, TICK...BOOM!, REEFER MADNESS, A NEW BRAIN, THE BEST LITTLE WHOREHOUSE IN TEXAS (Dark Horse), SAM I WAS (SLAC Fringe Festival), HAIR, FAME, THE AWESOME 80'S PROM, RENTED CHRISTMAS, & DANNY AND THE DEEP BLUE SEA (Egyptian). PENNY PENDLETON* (Assistant Stage Manager) is currently the Production Manager for Intermountain's Children's Educational Assembly Tour Live Well and a freelance Corporate Stage Manager. Penny trained in Stage Management at the Pacific Conservatory of Performing Arts and attended Utah Valley University on a full tuition theatrical scholarship. This past year's credits include: Reader for The Permanent Collection, and Grant and Twain which were both a part of SLAC's New Play Sounding Series, Assistant Stage Manager for Bloody, Bloody Andrew Jackson, Saturday's Voyeur 2012 (SLAC), Production Manager for LiVe 2011, Live Well 2012 (Intermountain Health Care) Producer & Production Manager for Persuasion, The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe, Eurydice & Other Short Plays, and Rings of The Tree (Zion Theatre Company). This marks Penny's third Voyeur, and true to the term, this one is the best.
ELENA DERN (Assistant Choreographer) is so excited to be a part of the Voyeur Production Team this year! This is her first time working as an assistant choreographer, and she couldn't be happier to be experiencing it with SLAC alongside Cynthia Fleming. Elena recently graduated from the University of Utah's Actor Training Program and was last seen in the Babcock's production of A FLEA IN HER EAR as Raymonde. Other theatre credits include SLAC's production of BLOODY BLOODY ANDREW JACKSON, which was the first of it's new University Professional Theatre Program, SATURDAY'S VOYEUR 2012 as a Skittle Sister at SLAC, the Babcock Theatre's productions of THE ADDING MACHINE, HAIR, THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW, and Studio 115 productions of THE WILD PARTY as Madelaine True, SONGS FOR A NEW WORLD, the world premier of FEVER, and FIFTH OF JULY as Gwen Landis. She is a proud recipient of the Pioneer Theatre Guild Julia Bertoch and Victory Jory Theatre Scholarships, and thanks her amigos and familia for all of their support and love!

Salt Lake Acting Company is thrilled to announce the highly anticipated 35th Anniversary of SATURDAY'S VOYEUR- the longest running production of its kind. Created by Allen Nevins and Nancy Borgenicht, directed by Cynthia Fleming, SATURDAY'S VOYEUR will run June 26 – September 1, 2013.
SATURDAY'S VOYEUR 2013 picks up on Election Day November 4, 2012 in downtown Salt Lake's Church Office Building (the COB). We are reacquainted and introduced to the COB's Elders, tour guides, Security Guards and all the secret tunnels emanating from "Subfloor 6." Ready to take America back on this historic day, the building buzzes with the anticipation of 'member' Mitt Romney's presidential victory and his restoration of traditional 'values' into the newly Mormon White House. VOYEUR entertains with what could have been. Along the way it also sings and dances its way through the Mayan 'End of the World" prophesy as seen through the eyes of the Angel Moroni, A beautiful young intern's Internet love affair with football star, Manti T'eo, the heartbreak of Latter Gay Scouts, nineteen year old women in the mission field "flirting to convert", immigration, guns and the plight of Democrats in Utah.
For 35 years SATURDAY'S VOYEUR has been a major player in Utah's cultural identity. This musical satire written from scratch each year- celebrates the vibrancy of life in Utah with wit and candor. The play's popularity is a testament to the willingness of Utah audiences to laugh at the things that make living in Utah a place like none other. In a cathartic, honest manner, the production unabashedly examines the underpinnings of Utah culture. At its core, SATURDAY'S VOYEUR is everything theatre should be. It brings together a community. It encourages us to love ourselves, each other and this pretty, great state that we share. This production has become a tradition that over twelve-thousand people eagerly anticipate every summer.
This year's cast features eight Voyeur alum (Austin Archer, Alexis Baigue, Trevor Dean, Randall Eames, Justin Ivie, Jacob Johnson, Emilie Starr and Kalyn West) and four Voyeur first-timers (Janessa Bowen, Leah Hassett, Eb Madson and Connor Norton.)
